David Henderson

Also of Weatherall Green and Smith lineage, David started his career in London in 1992, transferring to the firm’s Scottish office in Edinburgh in 1998. By 2008, when he left to establish hendersonherd, David was Director responsible for investment in Edinburgh.

In London, David worked primarily in the insolvency department, acting on loan recovery, and latterly in banking and finance, advising on new lending and raising funds. Witnessing both sides of the property lending market early in his career left an impression!

In Edinburgh, David’s role was primarily investment and development. This combined traditional brokerage with retained portfolio investment analysis and implementing asset management strategies. His extensive transactional experience covers both Scotland and the rest of the UK.

David views real estate as a reservoir of capital which can be exploited by both occupiers and investors at different stages of the economic cycle. The dynamics of property investment and funding continue to change and this provides scope for innovation and new solutions. David’s ability to combine his knowledge of the real estate investment market with the priorities of an occupational balance sheet means that his advice is sought by both private and public sector occupiers, as well as the wider property investment community.

David is a graduate of Cambridge University and holds an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. He qualified as Chartered Surveyor in 1994.
